Call me about Europe - Reply to letter by Robert Evans MEP
Letter to Kensington and Chelsea Informer - October 25th 2002
Last week's letter by Robert Evans MEP "Call me about Europe" is a little disingenuous. I broadly share his views on EU enlargement although I hope for a wider looser arrangement of nation states whereas I suspect he wants to build an ever closer political union as evidenced by the Labour Government's recent acceptance of the need for a Constitution for Europe and losing our national veto in key areas like defence and security.
However I do object to his claim to be the local MEP when he fully knows he is one of 10 London Region MEP's from 4 different parties including 5 Conservatives. I actually live in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and my colleague Theresa Villiers MEP lives in Hammersmith and Fulham. It is important to state that electors can write to any one or all of us on issues of concern, but if they want the Conservative viewpoint on for instance why we oppose the Euro for the UK I suggest they can write to London Region MEPs, Conservative Central Office, 32 Smith Square, London SW1P 3HH, tel 0207 984 8235
